Detectives Investigate Homicide in Temple Hills

The Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting in Temple Hills early this morning. The victim is 48-year-old Edward Payne of 14th Street in Northeast Washington. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

At about 1:25 am, patrol officers were called to the 4800 block of Stamp Road for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the victim in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a motive and the suspect(s).
